The tradition actually goes back at least until the 1970s-creating a lemon pig for luck. Especially around the new year.  I only started last year, 2025, but for some reason it really resonates with me. I guess mainly because you watch your lemon pig soak up all that bad luck as the year goes by.
So here’s a few shots of how my 2025 lemon pig ended up as well as a few of the new guy.

That’s a lemon, peppercorns for eyes, pumpkin seeds for ears, matchsticks for legs, a twist tie for a tail and of course a quarter in its mouth. 2026 has started out with some good luck. Now that I have my lemon pig in place I’m excited to see what the rest of the year has in store.
